Milestones of a Rising Career

To understand Song Kang’s journey, it helps to look at how his age intersects with his career milestones. Unlike some actors who achieve stardom in their teens, Song Kang entered the entertainment industry with a deliberate, steady climb.

• The Late Bloomer: He officially made his acting debut in 2017 at the age of 23 in the supporting role of the romantic comedy series The Liar and His Lover.
• The Breakthrough: Global recognition found him a couple of years later when he beat out massive competition to land the lead role of Hwang Sun-oh in Netflix’s hit adaptation Love Alarm (2019) at age 25.
• The Global Face of K-Dramas: Throughout his late twenties, Song cemented his powerhouse status with an incredible run of back-to-back hits, starring in Sweet Home (2020), Nevertheless (2021), Forecasting Love and Weather (2022), and My Demon (2023).

Where Is He Now?

As he navigates his thirties, Song Kang has also hit another major milestone required of South Korean men: mandatory military service. He enlisted for active duty in April 2024 to fulfill his national defense duties, temporarily stepping away from the screen and leaving fans eagerly awaiting his eventual discharge and return to the spotlight.

Whether playing a tortured monster-fighter, a hesitant romantic, or a supernatural demon, Song Kang’s age reflects an actor at the absolute peak of his physical and artistic prime—with plenty of compelling chapters left to write in his career.
